Lyrical Project
For this project I chose my muse to be my mother. I know that the subject was something not easily quantifiable but mothers are a part of every form of life on earth. The very thing we live on and its elements of nature are referred to as Mother Earth. In each of these photos I tried to capture something I associate with my mother. Whether it’s the sink outside that awaits a future remodel, her favorite dress, her not so green thumb, or her worn hands

Recreating Famous Self Portraits
For this assignment I was very scared at first, I thought I’d die of embarrassment because I am not very comfortable in front of the camera and I did not have any one else to photograph. Once I started shooting and editing though I actually really enjoyed it.
Through all of these photos I tried to keep the color schemes the same red, yellow, and blue. For the last images I tried the recent trend of taking a mirror outside and photographing yourself. I think it was very successful so I had to include two instead of one lol.
Conceptual Project
For this project I wanted all of my pictures to have the underlying theme of destruction. In October of 2018 my hometown in North Florida was destroyed by a hurricane. Many times when you watch the news and you see reports of hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. you feel no emotion. It isn’t until it happens to you that you feel anything. My home was damaged and my fathers house wiped out completely along with over 100 other homes. I drove around my town almost a year and a half later and captured pictures of homes that were in the rebuilding process. Some pictures showed homed that were completely wiped out, and some of the homes were unfortunately abandoned because the previous owner could not afford to fix the home. As I was editing the photos I didn’t feel as though you could tell the true meaning or even a common theme among them, so I edited a family into the picture. This gives the picture emotion in my eyes and helps guide you in the process of thinking what the picture is about. Each one of these homes has/ had a family living in it and they do not any more. I wanted you to feel as though you knew the family and were so upset by the loss of their home. After all a house is just a house, it is who lives there that makes it a home.

Allegory Response
The allegory of the cave is essentially a story about people who must spend their entire lives in a cave. They are trapped watching a puppeteer cast shadows on the wall. This parallels photography in that the puppeteer is only giving these people a glimpse of what he wants them to see. Their perception of the world is based on someone else’s images, and a photograph is one in the same. With a photograph you are giving someone a glimpse of a trip, memory, or even a feeling without them actually being there. You are only capturing what you want the viewer to see. This can be distorted by photographer in anyway he/she wants to. As the puppeteer controls what the people trapped in the cave see over the course of their lives he is essentially providing them with a photograph of what he wants them to see.
